Be an Author

PenThe linking of academia and practice is why Northwest Public Health (NPH) is important to the public health community. Too often, scholarly findings are not translated into practice. And the achievements of the practice community are rarely communicated to academics. NPH is proud to solicit and publish articles from authors in both communities.

We accept both solicited and unsolicited articles that are within the scope of our current call for authors. If you are unsure if a topic idea you have in mind is what we are looking for, please contact Candace Tkachuck, Managing Editor, at cyt@u.washington.edu.

Call for Authors: Spring/Summer 2012

Theme:  Innovative Approaches to Improving the Public’s Health

Today’s public health is dynamically shaped by fiscal realities, empowered community partners, and expanded research activity. What are some of the best ideas to come out of the challenges and opportunities public health professionals face? Where are best practices delivering good results? Which creative risks are paying off?

What are we looking for?
We are looking for articles that are approximately two pages in length (about 1,300 words), and include photos and/or other illustrations. We are particularly interested in articles that focus on the six-state area of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. You can see more about the process in the NPH Author Guidelines and grammatical information is available in the NPH Style Guide. If you are interested in submitting an article, please contact Candace Tkachuck.

What is the deadline?
The deadline for submitted articles is January 9, 2012.

Who is the audience for NPH?
