For the Spring 2015 Issue of Northwest Public Health:

Call for Story Ideas: Big Data in Public Health

Do you have an intriguing story idea on innovative Big Data work and its impact on public health? If so, we would like to hear from you!

Northwest Public Health is looking for article ideas for its 2015 issue on the theme, “Big Data in public health.” Published by the University of Washington School of Public Health and produced by NWCPHP, the mission of the magazine is to provide a forum for practitioners, collaborators, and all who share an interest in public health to exchange ideas, describe innovations, and discuss current issues.

From genomics to medical records, environmental data, GIS data, and maps of health disparities, Big Data has the potential to be a game changer in many areas of public health. If you have a story idea, please email Laura Haas ( with the following information:

  • Your name and contact information, and the names of any contacts to follow up with on a story lead
  • 1–3 sentences describing your project or story idea
  • Any web links to relevant content or story ideas

If your story idea is selected, one of our writers will contact you to develop the idea into an article for publication. We welcome story ideas on the Big Data topics mentioned above or any other areas related to public health.
